Two-dimensional materials possess a large number of interesting and important properties. Various methods have been developed to assemble two-dimensional aggregates. Assembly of colloidal particles can be achieved with laser-heating-induced thermal convective flow. In this paper, an opto-hydrodynamic binding method is proposed to assemble colloidal particles dispersed in a solution into multilayer structures. First, we use polystyrene (PS) microspheres to study the feasibility and characteristics of the assembly method. PS microspheres and monodispersed magnetic silica microspheres (SLEs) are dispersed in a solution to form a binary mixture system. Under the action of an external uniform magnetic field, SLEs in the solution form chains. An SLE chain is heated by a laser beam. Due to the photothermal effect, the SLE chain is heated to produce a thermal gradient, resulting in thermal convection. The thermal convection drives the PS beads to move toward the heated SLE chain and finally stably assemble into multilayer aggregates on both sides of the SLE chain. The laser power affects the speed and result of the assembly. When the laser power is constant, the degree of constraint of the PS microbeads in different layers is also different. At the same time, this method can also assemble the biological cells, and the spacing of different layers of cells can be changed by changing the electrolyte concentration of the solution. Our work provides an approach to assembling colloidal particles and cells, which has a potential application in the analysis of the collective dynamics of microparticles and microbes.

The light-fueled microparticle oscillator, exemplifying sustained driving in a static light source, potentially holds applications in fundamental physics, cellular manipulation, fluid dynamics, and various other soft-matter systems. The challenges of photodamage due to laser focusing on particles and the control of the oscillation direction have always been two major issues for microparticle oscillators. Here, we present an optical-thermal method for achieving a 3D microparticle oscillator with a fixed direction by employing laser heating of the gold film surface. First, the microparticle oscillation without direction limitation is studied. The photothermal conversion originates from the laser heating of a gold film. The oscillation mechanism is the coordination of the forces exerted on the particles, including the thermal convective force, thermophoresis force, and gravity. Subsequently, the additional Marangoni convection force, generated by the temperature gradient on the surface of a microbubble, is utilized to control the oscillation direction of the microparticle. Finally, a dual-channel oscillation mode is achieved by utilizing two microbubbles. During the oscillation process, the microparticle is influenced by flow field forces and temperature gradient force, completely avoiding optical damage to the oscillating microparticle.

Transition metal-catalyzed reductive cross-couplings to build C-C/Si bonds have been developed, but the reductive cross-coupling to create the C(sp2)-B bond has not been explored. Herein, we describe a nickel-catalyzed reductive cross-coupling between aryl halides and bromoboranes to construct a C(sp2)-B bond. This protocol offers a convenient approach for the synthesis of a wide range of aryl boronate esters, using readily available starting materials. Mechanistic studies indicate that the key to the success of the reaction is the activation of the B-Br bond of bromoboranes with a Lewis base such as 2-MeO-py. The activation ensures that bromoboranes will react with the active nickel(I) catalyst prior to aryl halides, which is different from the sequence of the general nickel-catalyzed reductive C(sp2)-C/Si cross-coupling, where the oxidative addition of an aryl halide proceeds first. Notably, this approach minimizes the production of undesired homocoupling byproduct without the requirement of excessive quantities of either substrate.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical potential and safety of Moluodan to reverse gastric precancerous lesions. METHODS: Patients aged 18-70 years diagnosed with moderate-to-severe atrophy and/or moderate-to-severe intestinal metaplasia, with or without low-grade dysplasia, and negative for Helicobacter pylori were recruited in this randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled trial. The primary outcome was the improvement of global histological diagnosis at 1-year follow-up endoscopy using the operative link for gastritis assessment, the operative link for gastric intestinal metaplasia assessment, and the disappearance rate of dysplasia. RESULTS: Between November 3, 2017 and January 27, 2021, 166 subjects were randomly assigned to the Moluodan group, 168 to the folic acid group, 84 to the combination group, and 84 to the high-dose Moluodan group. The improvement in global histological diagnosis was achieved in 60 (39.5%) subjects receiving Moluodan, 59 (37.8%) receiving folic acid, 26 (32.1%) receiving the combined drugs, and 36 (47.4%) receiving high-dose Moluodan. Moluodan was non-inferior to folic acid (95% confidence interval: -9.2 to 12.5; P = 0.02). High-dose Moluodan had a trend for better protective efficacy, though there was no statistical significance. The disappearance rate of dysplasia was 82.8% in the Moluodan group, which was superior to folic acid (53.9%; P = 0.006). No drug-related serious adverse events were observed. CONCLUSIONS: One pack of Moluodan three times daily for 1 year was safe and effective in reversing gastric precancerous lesions, especially dysplasia. Doubling its dose showed a better efficacy trend.

The white rot fungus Cerrena unicolor 87613 has been previously shown to be a promising resource in laccase production, an enzyme with significant biotechnological applications. Conventional methods face technical challenges in improving laccase activity. Attempts are still being made to develop novel approaches for further enhancing laccase activity. This study aimed to understand the regulation of laccase activity in C. unicolor 87613 for a better exploration of the novel approach. Transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were performed to identify key genes and metabolites involved in extracellular laccase activity. The findings indicated a strong correlation between the glutathione metabolism pathway and laccase activity. Subsequently, experimental verifications were conducted by manipulating the pathway using chemical approaches. The additive reduced glutathione (GSH) dose-dependently repressed laccase activity, while the GSH inhibitors (APR-246) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) inducer (H2O2) enhanced laccase activity. Changes in GSH levels could determine the intracellular redox homeostasis in interaction with ROS and partially affect the expression level of laccase genes in C. unicolor 87613 in turn. In addition, GSH synthetase was found to mediate GSH abundance in a feedback loop. This study suggests that laccase activity is negatively influenced by GSH metabolism and provides a theoretical basis for a novel strategy to enhance laccase activity by reprogramming glutathione metabolism at a specific cultivation stage.IMPORTANCEThe production of laccase activity is limited by various conventional approaches, such as heterologous expression, strain screening, and optimization of incubation conditions. There is an urgent need for a new strategy to meet industrial requirements more effectively. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the transcriptome and metabolome of Cerrena unicolor 87613. For the first time, we discovered a negative role played by reduced glutathione (GSH) and its metabolic pathway in influencing extracellular laccase activity. Furthermore, we identified a feedback loop involving GSH, GSH synthetase gene, and GSH synthetase within this metabolic pathway. These deductions were confirmed through experimental investigations. These findings not only advanced our understanding of laccase activity regulation in its natural producer but also provide a theoretical foundation for a strategy to enhance laccase activity by reprogramming glutathione metabolism at a specific cultivation stage.

Ankyrin repeat domain 52 (ANKRD52) is a regulatory component of the protein phosphatase 6 (PP6) holoenzyme. Evidence has emerged to suggest involvement of ANKRD52 in tumor metastases and cancer cell escape from T cell-mediated elimination and immunotherapy but there has been no research across different cancer types. The current study explored the biological functions of ANKRD52 by combining data from many databases. The aim was to expose new diagnostic or treatment biomarkers for malignant tumors. The roles of ANKRD52 with respect to immunotherapy in 33 human cancer types were analyzed by combining data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE), UCSC Xena, the Tumor Immune Estimation Resource (TIMER), TISIDB and Cellminer. Bioinformatics methods were used to analyze the association between ANKRD52 expression and prognosis, immunological indicators (immune cell infiltration, ESTIMATE scores and tumor microenvironment (TME) signatures), tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI) and drug sensitivity. ANKRD52 expression was generally higher in 24 tumor tissues than in normal tissues and was associated with poor prognosis, especially in kidney chromophobe (KICH). Lower expression was observed in advanced cancer. ANKRD52 expression was strongly linked to major immunological indicators, such as immune cell infiltration, ESTIMATE scores, TME signatures, as well as expression of immune and tumor-related genes. Expression was also associated with indicators of immunotherapy efficacy and outcome, such as TMB in 7 cancer types and MSI in 12. In addition, ANKRD52 expression was linked to sensitivity to a number of anticancer drugs. ANKRD52 had a distinct immune function in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA) that correlated negatively with most immune indicators. Expression was enriched in proliferation-, differentiation- and metabolism-related pathways and linked to other immune cells and TME signatures. A nomogram to predict 3- or 5-year overall survival (OS) of patients with BRCA was constructed. ANKRD52 may have utility as an oncological and immunological biomarker. New insights into oncogenesis are presented and the development of ANKRD52-targeting to increase the therapeutic efficacy of immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy explored.

BACKGROUND: Neuropathic pain significantly impairs quality of life, and effective interventions are limited. NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated protein 3 (NLRP3)-mediated microglial pyroptosis and the subsequent proinflammatory cytokine production are critical in exacerbating pain. Considering microglial pyroptosis as a potential target for developing specific analgesic interventions for neuropathic pain, our study investigated the pathogenesis and therapeutic targets in this condition. METHODS: In vitro experiments involved the co-culture of the immortalized BV-2 microglia cell line with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to induce microglial pyroptosis. Differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) were identified using high-throughput sequencing analysis. The downstream target genes of these miRNAs were determined through Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) databases, and the downstream target genes, combined with miRNAs, were predicted and verified through dual luciferase reporter gene assays. In vivo experiments were conducted to construct a chronic constriction injury (CCI) neuropathic pain model in rats and evaluate the analgesic effects of intrathecal injection of an adeno-associated virus vector (AAV) carrying miR-99b-3p. Gene expression was modulated through mimic or siRNA transfection. Western blot analysis assessed the expression of microglial pyroptosis and autophagy-related proteins, whereas RT-qPCR measured changes in proinflammatory cytokines expression. RESULTS: LPS-stimulated up-regulation of proinflammatory cytokines in microglia, accompanied by NLRP3-dependent pyroptosis, including increased NLRP3, GSDMD-N, Caspase1-p20, and mature-IL-1ß expression. High-throughput sequencing analysis revealed 16 upregulated and 10 downregulated miRNAs in LPS-stimulated microglia, with miR-99b-3p being the most downregulated. KEGG analysis revealed that the target genes of these miRNAs are primarily enriched in calcium, FoxO, and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signal pathways. Furthermore, overexpression of miR-99b-3p through mimic transfection significantly inhibited the inflammatory response and NLRP3-mediated pyroptosis by promoting autophagy levels in activated microglia. In addition, we predicted that the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of matrix metalloproteinase-13 (Mmp13) could bind to miR-99b-3p, and knockdown of Mmp13 expression through siRNA transfection similarly ameliorated enhanced proinflammatory cytokines expression and microglial pyroptosis by enhancing autophagy. In vivo, Mmp13 was co-localized with spinal dorsal horn microglia and was suppressed by intrathecal injection of the AAV-miR-99b-3p vector. Moreover, overpressed miR-99b-3p alleviated CCI-induced mechanical allodynia and neuroinflammation while suppressing pyroptosis by enhancing autophagy in the spinal cord of CCI rats. CONCLUSION: miR-99b-3p exerts analgesic effects on neuropathic pain by targeting Mmp13. These antinociceptive effects are, at least in part, attributed to the promotion of autophagy, thereby inhibiting neuroinflammation and NLRP3-mediated pyroptosis in activated microglia.

BACKGROUND: Family members often undertake caregiving responsibilities over long periods of time, which could lead to caregiving burden. A theory-based and culturally sensitive learned resourcefulness program may help family caregivers mitigate stress by learning and using self-help strategies. OBJECTIVES: This study's aim is to use rigorous methods to investigate the effects of a learned resourcefulness program called SOURCE (Chen et al., Geriatric Nursing, 2021, 45, 1129) to reduce caregiver burden and improve quality of life (QOL) for family caregivers. SOURCE is an acronym for the six self-help behaviors at the core of this theory-based learned resourcefulness program, developed by the Principal Investigator (PI) in collaboration with other researchers (Chen et al., Geriatric Nursing, 2021, 45, 1129). These behaviors are: seeking problem-solving strategies, organizing daily actions, using self-regulation, reframing positive situations, changing negative self-thinking, and exploring new thinking and skills. METHODS: We used a quasi-experimental design with repeated measures for this study. The potential subjects were family caregivers whose family member was receiving home care. PI recruited 94 family caregivers (60 years old or older) who were caring for disabled and/or ill family members who also were 60 years old or older and living at home at the time of the study. The PI recruited these caregivers through the home care services department of a hospital and two community healthcare centers in Taiwan. The experimental group (n = 46) received the four-week in-person SOURCE while their family member continued to receive home care services, whereas the control group (n = 48) did not receive the SOURCE program while their family member received home care services. We collected data from the participants using the Caregiver Burden Scale, EuroQol-5 Dimension, and Rosenbaum's Self-Control Scale at baseline (T0, Week 1), after the intervention (T1, Week 5), and at follow-up (T2, Week 9). We analyzed the data using paired-sample t-tests and used the generalized estimating equation method to compare paired data between the baseline and follow-up. RESULTS: Of the 94 recruited family caregivers, 90.4% (n = 85) completed the study. We found no significant differences between the experimental and control groups in terms of demographic, caregiver burden, and QOL variables at baseline. Compared to the control group, the experimental group had significantly improved caregiver burden scores (indicating a reduction in caregiver burden) at the end of the intervention and at follow-up. The experimental group had significantly improved QOL scores at follow-up only. The experimental group also showed high levels of adherence to and satisfaction with the intervention. The paired-sample t-test results show significantly improved learned resourcefulness between T0 and T1 and between T0 and T2 (t = -5.84, p < 0.001; t = -6.77, p < 0.001) for the experimental group. CONCLUSION: The SOURCE program helped family caregivers develop and use self-help behaviors during their daily caregiving tasks. The family caregivers reported satisfaction with the program as well as reduced caregiver burden and improved QOL after the program ended. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The SOURCE program can be implemented to improve family caregivers' caregiver burden and QOL. Community health nurses can improve self-help abilities of family caregivers by helping them to acquire abilities and skills that allow them to effectively handle stress and reduce their caregiver burden.

Measuring differences between an individual's age and biological age with biological information from the brain have the potential to provide biomarkers of clinically relevant neurological syndromes that arise later in human life. To explore the effect of multimodal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features on the prediction of brain age, we investigated how multimodal brain imaging data improved age prediction from more imaging features of structural or functional MRI data by using partial least squares regression (PLSR) and longevity data sets (age 6-85 years). First, we found that the age-predicted values for each of these ten features ranged from high to low: cortical thickness (R = 0.866, MAE = 7.904), all seven MRI features (R = 0.8594, MAE = 8.24), four features in structural MRI (R = 0.8591, MAE = 8.24), fALFF (R = 0.853, MAE = 8.1918), gray matter volume (R = 0.8324, MAE = 8.931), three rs-fMRI feature (R = 0.7959, MAE = 9.744), mean curvature (R = 0.7784, MAE = 10.232), ReHo (R = 0.7833, MAE = 10.122), ALFF (R = 0.7517, MAE = 10.844), and surface area (R = 0.719, MAE = 11.33). In addition, the significance of the volume and size of brain MRI data in predicting age was also studied. Second, our results suggest that all multimodal imaging features, except cortical thickness, improve brain-based age prediction. Third, we found that the left hemisphere contributed more to the age prediction, that is, the left hemisphere showed a greater weight in the age prediction than the right hemisphere. Finally, we found a nonlinear relationship between the predicted age and the amount of MRI data. Combined with multimodal and lifespan brain data, our approach provides a new perspective for chronological age prediction and contributes to a better understanding of the relationship between brain disorders and aging.

STUDY OBJECTIVES: To efficiently improve the scoring competency of scorers with varying levels of experience across regions in Taiwan, we developed a training program with a cloud-based polysomnography scoring platform to evaluate and improve interscorer agreement. METHODS: A total of 70 scorers from 34 sleep centers in Taiwan (job tenure: 0.5-39.0 years) completed a scoring test. All scorers scored a 742-epoch (30 s/epoch) overnight polysomnography recording of a patient with a moderate apnea-hypopnea index. Subsequently, 8 scoring experts delivered 8 interactive online lectures (each lasting 30 minutes). The training program included identifying scoring weaknesses, highlighting the latest scoring rules, and providing physicians' perspectives. Afterward, the scorers completed the second scoring test on the same participant. Changes in agreement from the first to second scoring test were identified. Sleep staging, sleep parameters, and respiratory events were considered for evaluating scoring agreement. RESULTS: The scorers' agreement in overall sleep stage scoring significantly increased from 74.6 to 82.3% (median score). The proportion of scorers with an agreement of ≥ 80% increased from 20.0% (14/70) to 58.6% (41/70) after the online training program. In addition, the scorers' agreement in overall respiratory-event scoring increased to 88.8% (median score) after training. The scorers with a job tenure of 2.0-4.9 years exhibited the highest level of improvement in overall sleep staging (their median agreement increased from 72.8 to 84.9%; P < .001). CONCLUSIONS: Our interactive online training program efficiently targeted the scorers' scoring weaknesses identified in the first scoring test, leading to substantial improvements in scoring proficiency. Because of the health benefits and economic opportunities, extracting bioactive peptides from plant proteins, often food processing by-products, garners significant interest. However, the high enzyme costs and the emergence of bitter peptides have posed significant challenges in production. This study achieved the immobilization of Alcalase and Flavorzyme using cost-effective SiO2 microparticles. Mussel-inspired chemistry and biocompatible polymers were employed, with genipin replacing glutaraldehyde for safer crosslinking. This approach yielded an enzyme loading capacity of approximately 25 mg/g support, with specific activity levels reaching around 180 U/mg for immobilized Alcalase (IA) and 35 U/mg for immobilized Flavorzyme (IF). These immobilized proteases exhibited improved activity and stability across a broader pH and temperature range. During the hydrolysis of soy proteins, the use of immobilized proteases avoided the thermal inactivation step, resulting in fewer peptide aggregates. Moreover, this study applied peptidomics and bioinformatics to profile peptides in each hydrolysate and identify bioactive ones. Cascade hydrolysis with IA and IF reduced the presence of bitter peptides by approximately 20%. Additionally, 50% of the identified peptides were predicted to have bioactive properties after in silico digestion simulation. This work offers a cost-effective way of generating bioactive peptides from soy proteins with reducing potential bitterness.

The reduction of agricultural emission plays an important role in realizing the dual-carbon goals. It is thus of great significance to examine the characteristics and drivers of regional agricultural carbon emission. We measured agricultural carbon emission in Jiangxi Province from the perspective of input-output and production processes, and explored the drivers and decoupling dynamics of agricultural carbon emission by using the LMDI decomposition method together with the Tapio decoupling model modified by time-varying parameter C-D production function. The results showed that agricultural carbon emission in Jiangxi increased by 26.4% from 2010 to 2021, and the carbon emission intensity decreased year by year with an average annual rate of 4.9%. Factors such as agricultural carbon intensity, labor input, and capital stock collectively reduced carbon emission by a total of 61.05 Mt, with a contribution of 27.0%, 44.5% and 28.5%, respectively. Level of agricultural economic development, agricultural structure, and technological progress had strong driving effects, which accounted for 75.7%, 5.6% and 18.8%, respectively. Agricultural carbon emission in Jiangxi was weakly decoupled from economic development, capital stock, and technological progress factors, but was negatively decoupled from labor input. Moreover, the decoupling state was more desirable in the later period than in the earlier period. Our results suggested that the application of the time-varying parameter C-D production function is innovative and applicable by incorporating technology, labor, and capital factors in the examination of carbon emission drivers and decoupling effects.

The effects of different p-GaN layer thickness on the photoelectric and thermal properties of AlGaN-based deep-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (DUV-LEDs) were investigated. The results revealed that appropriate thinning of the p-GaN layer enhances the photoelectric performance and thermal stability of DUV-LEDs, reducing current crowding effects that affect the external quantum efficiency and chip heat dissipation. The ABC + f(n) model was used to analyse the EQE, which helped in identifying the different physical mechanisms for DUV-LEDs with different p-GaN layer thickness. Moreover, the finite difference time domain simulation results revealed that the light-extraction efficiency of the DUV-LEDs exhibits a trend similar to that of damped vibration as the thickness of the p-GaN layer increases. The AlGaN-based DUV-LED with a p-GaN layer thickness of 20 nm exhibited the best photoelectric characteristics and thermal stability.

Herein, a doxorubicin-loaded carbon-based drug delivery system, denoted as PC-DOX, composed of pH-responsive imine bond was developed for the tumor-targeted treatment. PC-DOX with a uniform particle size around 180 nm was synthesized by coating of as-synthesized hollow carbon-based nanoparticles (NPs) with dialdehyde PEG, which was used as carrier to attach DOX covalently through dynamic covalent bond. The unique structure endowed the advantages of specific tumor targeting and tumor microenvironment (TME) specific drug delivery capacity with PC-DOX. For the one hand, the tumor targeting caused by the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect could significantly improve the tumor cellular uptake. For the other hand, the pH-responsiveness could realize the effective DOX accumulation in tumor tissues, avoiding the unwanted side effect to the normal tissues. As a result, PC-DOX with high DOX loading capacity (70.12%) and excellent biocompatibility, concurrently, presented a significant anti-tumor effect at a low mass concentration (DOX equivalent dose: 20 µg/mL). Another attractive characteristic of PC-DOX was the remarkable protective effect towards DOX-induced cardiotoxicity, which could be clearly observed from in vitro cellular, and animal assays. Compared with free DOX, the cardiomyocyte viability increased by average 30.58%, and the heart function was also significantly improved. This novel drug delivery nanoplatform provides a new method for the future clinical application of DOX in the cancer's therapeutics.

Assessment of functional connectivity (FC) has revealed a great deal of knowledge about the macroscale spatiotemporal organization of the brain network. Recent studies found task-versus-rest network reconfigurations were crucial for cognitive functioning. However, brain network reconfiguration remains unclear among different cognitive states, considering both aggregate and time-resolved FC profiles. The current study utilized static FC (sFC, i.e., long timescale aggregate FC) and sliding window-based dynamic FC (dFC, i.e., short timescale time-varying FC) approaches to investigate the similarity and alterations of edge weights and network topology at different cognitive loads, particularly their relationships with specific cognitive process. Both dFC/sFC networks showed subtle but significant reconfigurations that correlated with task performance. At higher cognitive load, brain network reconfiguration displayed increased functional integration in the sFC-based aggregate network, but faster and larger variability of modular reorganization in the dFC-based time-varying network, suggesting difficult tasks require more integrated and flexible network reconfigurations. Moreover, sFC-based network reconfigurations mainly linked with the sensorimotor and low-order cognitive processes, but dFC-based network reconfigurations mainly linked with the high-order cognitive process. Our findings suggest that reconfiguration profiles of sFC/dFC networks provide specific information about cognitive functioning, which could potentially be used to study brain function and disorders.

RESUMO

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that most commonly occurs in women of childbearing age. However, cases of SLE with abnormal pregnancy as the initial manifestation, involving the development of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH), have rarely been reported. Herein, we report the case of a young woman who underwent a cesarean section for fetal distress and growth restriction at 35 + 1 weeks' gestation. Following discharge, she experienced progressive worsening of anemia and chest tightness, which was later diagnosed as SLE complicated by DAH.

BACKGROUND: Adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction has a center of origin within 5 cm of the esophagogastric junction. Surgical resection remains the main treatment. A transthoracic approach is recommended for Siewert I adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction and a transabdominal approach is recommended for Siewert III adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction. However, there is a need to determine the optimal surgical approach for Siewert II adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction to improve lung function and the prognosis of patients. AIM: To investigate and compare the surgical effects, postoperative changes in pulmonary function, and prognoses of two approaches to treating combined esophagogastric cancer. METHODS: One hundred and thirty-eight patients with combined esophagogastric cancer treated by general and thoracic surgeries in our hospital were selected. They were divided into group A comprising 70 patients (transabdominal approach) and group B comprising 68 patients (transthoracic approach) based on the surgical approach. The indexes related to surgical trauma, number of removed lymph nodes, indexes of lung function before and after surgery, survival rate, and survival duration of the two groups were compared 3 years after surgery. RESULTS: The duration of surgery, length of hospital stay, and postoperative drainage duration of the patients in group A were shorter than those of the patients in group B, and the volume of blood loss caused by surgery was lower for group A than for group B (P < 0.05). At the one-month postoperative review, the first second, maximum ventilation volume, forceful lung volume, and lung volume values were higher for group A than for group B (P < 0.05). Preoperatively, the QLQ-OES18 scale scores of the patients in group A were higher than those in group B on re-evaluation at 3 mo postoperatively (P < 0.05). The surgical complication rate of the patients in group A was 10.00%, which was lower than that of patients in group B, which was 23.53% (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Transabdominal and transthoracic surgical approaches are comparable in treating combined esophagogastric cancer; however, the former results in lesser surgical trauma, milder changes in pulmonary function, and fewer complications.

Long-range dependence is a prevalent phenomenon in various biological systems that characterizes the long-memory effect of temporal fluctuations. While recent research suggests that functional magnetic resonance imaging signal has fractal property, it remains unknown about the multifractal long-range dependence pattern of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging signals. The current study adopted the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis on highly sampled resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans to investigate long-range dependence profile associated with the whole-brain voxels as specific functional networks. Our findings revealed the long-range dependence's multifractal properties. Moreover, long-term persistent fluctuations are found for all stations with stronger persistency in whole-brain regions. Subsets with large fluctuations contribute more to the multifractal spectrum in the whole brain. Additionally, we found that the preprocessing with band-pass filtering provided significantly higher reliability for estimating long-range dependence. Our validation analysis confirmed that the optimal pipeline of long-range dependence analysis should include band-pass filtering and removal of daily temporal dependence. Furthermore, multifractal long-range dependence characteristics in healthy control and schizophrenia are different significantly. This work has provided an analytical pipeline for the multifractal long-range dependence in the resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging signal. The findings suggest differential long-memory effects in the intrinsic functional networks, which may offer a neural marker finding for understanding brain function and pathology.

OBJECTIVE: To conduct a preliminary study on joint injuries of anterior and calcaneal fibular ligaments of the lateral ankle joint, and to analyze mechanism of action of shaking and poking in treating ankle joint and biomechanical properties of ankle during the recovery of joint injuries. METHODS: CT scan was performed on a male volunteer with right ankle sprain. Mimics 10.0, Solidworks 2016, Hypermesh 12.0 and Abaqus 6.13 software were used to establish 3D nonlinear finite element analysis model of foot and ankle, and the validity of model was verified. Combined with clinical study, the finite element simulation analysis was carried out on the toe flexion, dorsiflexion, varus and valgus of ankle joint under different treatment periods by adjusting elastic modulus of ligament to simulate ligament injury. RESULTS: With the treatment of shake and prick and recovery of ligament injury, the maximum stress and area with large stress on tibial pitch and fibular joint surface gradually increased under the four working conditions, and the stress value of the maximum stress ligament gradually increased, and the stress of the anterior and calcaneal fibular ligament dispersed and transferred, and the axial force gradually decreased. CONCLUSION: The finite element method was used to simulate the mechanical condition of the shaking and stamping technique, and the changes of the forces of the ligament and articular surface before and after treatment of anterior and calcaneal ligament combined injury of ankle talus were intuitively observed. The treatment effect was quantified, and could provid objective and scientific basis for clinical promotion and application of this technique.
